Vision
I mentioned in a previous newsletter that we will be partnering with an organization called Souls Harbour Rescue Mission starting in January 2025. They will be running their Amherst ministry in our basement and will be posting a couple jobs in December for this site. Most of the work they do is with volunteers though, not just from AWC or even other churches, but from the community as well. This is something we will want to be part of, and you will want to be watching for how you can be part of this incredible ministry. I also wanted to mention something about the Holy Spirit here this week. I have had a few experiences with different people over the past few years where they didn't realize that the Holy Spirit was already speaking to them. They assumed it would be a bigger experience with some kind of bigger revelation, but it was actually just a subtle nudge about something simple in their lives. I'm not saying every passing thought is the Holy Spirit, but it also doesn't need to be anything profound. Sometimes God is just saying, "go check to make sure that door is locked," or, "you need to text that person," or, "stop spending money on that stuff." The more you pay attention to Him, the easier it will be to notice what He is saying.

Wins
1. I have accepted the volunteer position of chaplain for the Amherst Police Department, which I hope will allow me to make an even greater impact on our community. 2. I had a number of conversations with people this week who felt like what they needed to share about their lives would be too big for me to accept, but they shared anyway and were faced with the love and grace of Jesus instead of condemnation, and their vulnerability led to a greater sense of peace! 3. Our teens put a float in the Christmas Parade this past weekend, and they won best float for a non-profit I think! |
Don't Let Anything Slow You DownKeep Your Eyes on Jesus - Sunday, November 24, 2024 When you enter a competition you make sure that you are both ready to perform well, and you also make sure you have nothing getting in the way of your performance. You wear the right shoes, you eat the right food, you listen to the right music, all to help you perform better. We need to do the same thing in our faith journey. If something is getting in the way of our pursuit of Jesus, we need to get rid of it. Hebrews 12:1-3, 10 Do whatever you need to do to keep up with Jesus.
