Vision
Well, here we are everyone... we are down to a staff of two! Our congregation is bigger than it has ever been, we have greater financial needs than ever before, and we are down to just two pastors! What is God doing here? Beyond the fact that God has called Sheryl to pastor in Truro and advance the kingdom beyond Amherst, there are a couple of things I see God doing here at AWC. 1. For our church to continue along the path we have been moving, we need to fully embrace the calling for all of us to be disciples. We cannot rely on staff to do the work of the church, and we are not supposed to. The staff are here to guide and support the disciples. Brad and I are here to keep us on the right path, and it is up to all of us to be the workers of the Gospel. You have been called to be a disciple, and part of that is doing ministry. 2. There is a growing awareness of how God calls us to serve, not just in a church setting, but at home, at work, and in our hobbies. We are to be light in the darkness, expressions of Christ's character, and ministers of the Gospel in all those places. It isn't about serving at church and then fitting in at work. It is about doing your job, leading your family, and engaging your hobbies in ways that honour Christ and point people to Him. I see God leading us in that direction. Where is God leading you in those things? |
Wins
1. We had a remarkable turnout for Pastor Sheryl's last Sunday at AWC, and there was such a wonderful gathering after the service that left her and Dwayne feeling blessed and encouraged for their next steps! 2. We sent 18 teens, I think, to OneCon this past weekend, where about 3000 teenagers gathered in Moncton to Worship God and seek Him! 3. Pastor Brad and I have been having some incredible conversations with different people in our church, where people are trying to understand God and theology better, discover the way forward in their discipleship, and even take correction when they start drifting off the right path! |
