Our culture is riddled with popular icons everyone pays attention to and tries to emulate. Unfortunately, these people are usually not known for their morals, wisdom, or humility! Does it make sense for us to be following these kinds of people with our lives if they aren't going to make us more like Christ? We will just end up in the mess they are in.
