Through donations and tithes from those who attend, any rentals we get and occasionally we get some funding through grants we get approved for (which is rare).
No. Actually part of what we bring in for donations goes to fund different work our denomination does in our district and around the world.
Our pastors are given a salary, approved by the board, and are paid that salary from the tithes and donations given to AWC.
All those funds go to pay our operational costs like utilities, building maintenance, ministry expenses like curriculum for our kids ministry and books for our recovery program. We use some of the funds to support people who are sharing the good news about Jesus around the world (called Missions), and to help those in need locally (usually called benevolence).
Yes, we qualify as a charity.
Yes, we track the funds given and provide donation receipts yearly.
If donations are given for a specific project, the Board takes that only as a suggestion and is not bound to use them for that project. We do attempt to honour those suggestions and to use them as designated, with the understanding that when the need for that project has been met, cannot be completed for reasons determined by the Board, or the suggestion does not meet the priorities of our organization, the remaining funds designated will be used where needed most.
ex. You might give us money to buy a pop machine, but we are probably just going to use the money to do kids ministry instead.
