A few years ago I was talking to a friend and he said that people naturally think about themselves and so we need to turn all our effort towards leading them to think about other people. He said that doing so people would still end up thinking about their own needs, but would also start thinking about others.

I had a conversation this week with someone else who was concerned about the trend of people avoiding proper self-care and that there is a culture of guilt and shame around taking care of yourself.

So, how are we supposed to make sense of that? We are supposed to be selfless, but we are also supposed to be healthy...

The second greatest command is: love your neighbour as yourself. I think that is our answer. If you don't love yourself, you won't be loving your neighbour very well. If you love yourself a lot, you should be loving others just as much.  Maybe the best way for me to say it is that we need to remember that it is about us, not just them and not just me.  It's us.

1.  AWC - We have another person who has signed up to get baptized! Anyone else want in???

2.  Connection - We finally have in place our new treasurer and a new bookkeeper! Matt Forrest is our new Treasurer and our bookkeeper/accountant is right here in Truro.

3. AWC - Trunk or Treat happened last week, we got over 10 000 pieces of candy to hand out, and we saw more than 350 kids (so we estimate about 700 people total)!

4. Connection - Pastor Emma is here!!!!!!

We all have dreams for our lives and for our world, but it seems like the bad guys are always winning. How do we take it back? How do we change the world? How do we make a difference? God knows how and He actually gives us some pretty clear instructions on what we should be doing to take it back.

You can't do it without Jesus.

We like to keep you updated on how things are going at AWC and in an effort to keep you informed each year we put out a mid-year business update with highlights from the year so-far and where we are headed next. Our church year runs from May-April, so this is about the midpoint for us.

A night of worship. Songs, Prayer, and creative elements will be used to set aside time to simply focus on God and give Him glory.

With our annual Christmas Wrap-Up happening soon we are raising funds to help support families in need! Join us for a night of music and an auction of baked goods to support those in our community this Christmas!

Admission and Refreshments are by donation.

All proceeds go to support those in need this Christmas, like through our Christmas Wrap-Up projects.

Sunday Nov 23rd our morning service will be 30min longer to allow for a special presentation.

Tuesdays at 7pm

Join us as we develop the practice of prayer.

Learn how to hear God better.

Learn how to pray more effectively.

Spend time in silence, at the altar, or with a group praying.

Special focus will be given on the last Tuesday of each month to Missions and our Global Partners.

Come learn English and about life in Canada. This is open to everyone. Participants may be asked to cover the cost of workbooks, but if for some reason you are unable to cover that cost, you can still participate. We want to make this course available to everyone regardless of their economic situation.

Join us at the West Highlands Elementary Gymnasium for games and lessons designed to help kids grow in their confidence and character development. 

For kids in Grades Primary to 6

5:45 - 6:45 pm

Konnect the Tots is a playgroup for parents and kids that takes place every Thursday from 9:30-11:30 at Amherst Wesleyan Church (6 Maltby Ct). There are toys and activities set up in the basement of the church for kids to play with! Everyone is welcome! (Enter through the parking lot side door!)

When we update and properly maintain our facility it allows us to do more ministry longer.
