Coincidence?By Pastor Evan This past weekend I noticed there were a few people I haven’t chatted with or seen at church lately, so I wanted to reach out to them to see how they were doing. On Monday I sent out some messages to them and got some responses and set up some meetings. Today I met with one of those people and they had an incredible story to tell me about my message to them on Monday. Apparently, they were at home scrolling through their phone when they came upon a poem about God reaching out to us when we are in a deep dark hole. This poem struck a chord with them and got them thinking. Eight minutes after they listened to that poem, I messaged them about wanting to connect. He was witnessing the poem being lived out in his own life. He felt like he was in a deep dark hole, and I reached out to him on behalf of Christ. Is that just coincidence? Maybe, but the more times things like this happen, the less random and more coordinated it seems. And it seems to keep happening. And it started by simply noticing that I hadn’t seen someone in a while and deciding to reach out to them. Who knows what God might be setting when you notice someone missing and then reach out! |
Wins
Amherst Wesleyan: 1. We held our Annual Business Meeting and had great conversation and increased passion for the mission that God has put in front of us. 2. We had an incredible meeting with our Leadership Team on Sunday and spent a lot of time discussing a new expression of our mission that will happen at the end of October to replace Trunk-or-Treat! There will be lots more to share about this in the Fall, but it is already looking very exciting! Connection Church: 1. New families joined us for Invite Sunday, and plan to come back and make Connection their home! 2. We had a great meet with the LBA (Local Board of Administration) on Monday and spent time discussing the church budget, leaders in our church and how to develop a culture of safe and meaningful conflict! |

Caton's Island Kids Camp
Caton’s is offering fourteen different camps this summer for all ages. Don’t hesitate to register our camps fill up fast! Caton’s Island is a unique place. Situated in the Long Reach, the 120 acre island is a small piece of paradise. Originally named “Emenenic” – meaning ‘Isle of Prayers’ or ‘Meeting Place’ – a historical monument marks it as the first European settlement in New Brunswick, est. 1611. Take a walk along the scenic trails that wind through the old-growth forest of massive hemlock, mighty oaks, and towering pines. Visit the remote beaches to sit in quiet solitude, and take in the splendid beauty of the river dotted with sailboats. View wildlife, such as eagles, osprey, and owls, along with deer, rabbits, partridge, raccoons, and the various shorebirds, which often make their home here. You’ll soon realize that there is something extra-ordinary about this island. To all this, add energetic campers having fun playing, swimming, or worshiping God, and you will begin to grasp the true distinctiveness of Caton’s as a summer camp – a place where kids learn, grow, and experience life.
