Vision
I don't want to be legalistic over semantics here, so please don't take this further than what is useful. As I was chatting with other pastors this week someone used the word, "worker," instead of "volunteer," and I thought that was such a powerful declaration. There had been some discussion about how using the word "volunteer" can leave people feeling either less valuable or less responsible, but the word "worker" increases both. As followers of Christ, we aren't just volunteering for ministry and projects at the church. We are workers in the harvest, workers for the Kingdom of God, workers of the Gospel. This isn't about just helping when it is convenient or when nothing else is going on. This is about seeing the work of God's Way as the reason why we are here. We exist to serve Jesus. That includes how we do our jobs, lead our families, spend our money, how we connect with others, sharing our faith, and being part of specific ministry works/projects. You aren't just a volunteer. You are a worker of the harvest (meaning: helping people follow Jesus). This is your work. Paid or unpaid. This is our work. We are workers of the Gospel of Jesus!

Wins
1. We've got more people serving with ministries and projects here at AWC, including construction, painting, plumbing, kids ministry and tech! 2. As I have had the chance to work alongside some of the people at AWC I get to have some incredible conversations and hear about their passion for Christ and see just how excited they are to learn more and live it out! 3. This week I met with a number of other pastors from other churches, denominations and locations to stay connected and we decided to start praying together over zoom EVERY Thursday morning at 9am for 20min. Prayer and the unity of Christ's Body; now there is a powerful thing! |
A Complete SolutionSacrifices of the Old Testament - Sunday, September 22, 2024 Some of the sacrifices that God told the Israelites to practice allowed them to consume part of what was offered. The sin offering wasn't one of them. The sacrifice symbolized the passing of their sin onto the animal, its death, and then the rest of it was taken away from the person. The blood of Jesus doesn't just cover sin, it removes it. Leviticus 4
