Serving with Eternity in Mind
What we give our time and energy to has to do with our identity. I’m reminded of Jesus when He taught, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). I have been so inspired by the people around me who make their faith in Jesus a key part of their identity - more than that, the core basis of who they are! Jesus says we are loved, redeemed, and called. Loved by the Creator of all. Redeemed by the blood of His Son. Called to partner with Him in seeing His Kingdom come to earth. Just as Jesus came to sacrificially serve, so are we empowered (and challenged) to serve. To walk in faith with God is to give our time and energy to Him! The things we invest ourselves in on this earth will one day fade. Service to God, though? That has an eternal impact and reward. I bet that each of us can think of someone who lovingly served God and the church, who had an impact on your life because of how they spent their time and energy. We are called to focus our eyes on heaven, on eternity, so that we would order our lives by what matters most. How are you choosing to prioritize the Lord in your life this year? This week? As you read this email? Be encouraged - He always has something more for us! The longer we journey with Him, the more the Spirit shows us how we can be refined and renewed. Lean in to what God is placing on your heart; He has more in store than we could ever ask or imagine. - Pastor Emma “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” ~ Matthew 6:19-21 NIV “Time is short. Eternity is long. It is only reasonable that this short life be lived in the light of eternity.” — Charles Spurgeon |

Amherst Wesleyan: 1. We had our annual Vision Retreat on Saturday with our LBA and Leadership Team which involved incredible discussions around where we are heading next as a church! I have also had several follow-up conversations with some of these leaders around their specific next steps in leadership! 2. The LBA has reviewed our finances and decided that we are presently in a strong enough financial situation where we can pay off the remaining $40 000 of our mortgage in a single lump sum, which will save us thousands in interest payments and allow us to move more money into ministry! Connection Church: 1. Pastor Emma and I have been working on a series of special events that will take place over the next several months, and we are excited to start working on the details of those plans and sharing them with the church! 2. Pastor Emma has started working to fill a number of volunteer roles and many people are stepping up to serve with excitement! |

A Clear MessageWhat's it mean to be part of a church? - Sunday, January 18, 2026 Many people have had the experience of going to church or talking to a church person and being left confused. Others have read 1 Corinthians 14 and been left wondering what the author was really trying to say about the gift of tongues. When we take the time to read it more carefully we can see that confusion shouldn't be the result of what we do. 1 Corinthians 14 Our job is to make the message of Jesus clear to everyone who hears it.
